Epistemic Crossings is a University of Vienna based Student Blog website of the master’s programme “Epistemologies of Science and Technology”, launched in 2026.
The master’s programme Epistemologies of Science and Technology (EST) at the University of Vienna offers students from diverse academic backgrounds the opportunity to engage with the study of science and technology in an interdisciplinary manner. While this interdisciplinarity and the resulting openness of the curriculum allow for great flexibility in terms of content, they also make it difficult to build a cohesive student community.
Students are often scattered across different departments, which makes informal networking and discussions about academic progress, master’s projects, and shared areas of interest more difficult. Furthermore, the desire for a platform for the EST master’s program has been expressed repeatedly in various feedback sessions.
Objectives of the platform
The goal of the project is to make a lasting contribution to the networking and visibility of the EST community. To this end, a website will be developed and operated that serves both as a blog for publishing (academic) papers, master’s projects, articles, reports, essays, etc., and as a digital hub for students and interested parties. In addition to basic information about the program, the website will offer interactive and editorial content. The main objectives of the project can be summarized as follows: Creation of a publication platform for student work, essays, projects, and academic contributions Providing key information about the EST program (e.g., curriculum, recommended courses, program structure, FAQs, and important notes requiring special attention) Establishing an interactive forum to facilitate communication among students across all semesters
